Investment Objective
- Strives for investment results similar to the total return of the Barclays Capital Aggregate Bond Index.
Investment Strategy
- The Portfolio invests primarily in a representative sample of the fixed-income securities that comprise the Barclays Capital Aggregate Bond Index, including U.S. Treasury and government agency securities, mortgage-related securities, corporate bonds, and asset-backed and commercial mortgage-backed securities.
Benefits of Investing in the Thrivent Bond Index Portfolio
- There is very little exposure to the more volatile, high-yield sector or convertible securities.
- This Portfolio offers exposure to major components of the fixed-income market, and seeks to approximate the performance of the Barclays Capital Aggregate Bond Index over time.
Special Investment Risks
- The Portfolio is subject to interest rate risk which may result in overall price fluctuations over short or even extended time periods. While the Portfolio attempts to closely track the Barclays Capital Aggregate Bond Index, it does not duplicate the composition of the index. Index portfolios are subject to the same market risks associated with the stocks in their respective indexes.
- The risks incurred by mortgage securities include, but are not limited to, reinvestment of prepaid loans at lower rates of return. The real estate industry and, therefore, the performance of the portfolio is highly sensitive to economic conditions. In addition, the value of mortgage seucirites may fluctuate in response to changes in interest rates and is not necessarily guaranteed by the U.S. Government.
- These and other risks are described in the prospectus.
Investment Minimums
- All initial and subsequent investment minimums exist at the contract level. Most subaccounts carry no investment minimums.
- However, a minimum of $1,000 is required if you choose to use the DCA (Dollar Cost Averaging) Fixed Account to fund periodic investments to other subaccounts. See the prospectus for additional information.
