Chapter Leader Roles

The chapter leadership board is comprised of five required elected positions, five optional elected positions and a number of advisory roles appointed by the elected leaders. The board provides strategic direction, leadership planning and administration to support congregational and community service teams.

Required Elected Positions

President

The chapter president demonstrates leadership to the chapter board, which provides strategic direction, leadership planning and administration support to congregational and community service teams.

Vice President

The chapter vice president provides leadership in the absence of the president. The person may be well-prepared to seek election to the presidency once the incumbent steps down. The vice president works with the communications director to invite elected officials to chapter activities and leads the Nominating Committee for identifying future chapter leaders.

Financial Director

The financial director, along with the assistant financial director (an optional elected role; if applicable), plays a significant role in maintaining financial records for the chapter leadership board.

The chapter records director provides leadership to the administrative functions of the leadership board.

Director of Congregational Advocates

The director of congregational advocates encourages continual advocacy for Thrivent Financial and its mission to support members, their congregations and communities.

Assistant Financial Director

The financial director, along with the assistant financial director (an optional elected role; if applicable), plays a significant role in maintaining financial records for the chapter leadership board.

Communications Director

The chapter communications director supports service teams and the chapter as he or she communicates with the public.

Community Service Team Director

The chapter community service team director supports community service teams by encouraging them to form and initiate activities to qualify for funding through the Care Abounds in Communities® program which supports individuals, families and qualified not-for-profit institutions. The person plays a significant role in working to increase member engagement and growth.

Events Director

The chapter events director works with the chapter leadership board and, in some cases, the Lutheran Engagement Team (LET) to determine appropriate recognition and events sponsored by the chapter leadership board.

Youth Director

The chapter youth director looks for opportunities to involve youth in chapter and service team activities.

Advisory Positions

The chapter leadership board may appoint one or more advisors to assist the chapter in its operations.
