Do One Thing Differently Tools & Resources

Empower People to Make a Change
Do One Thing Differently encourages individuals and families to make changes to help them improve their financial situation. People will have the chance to share what changes they are making and empower others to make changes as well. You can make a change in your financial life and spread the good news too!

When people commit to improving their financial well-being, they're more prepared to set financial goals and identify protection needs they may have. This can help us grow membership.

Presentation

The Do One Thing Differently informal discussion is designed to help participants do one thing differently to improve their financial lives. Whether they choose to start simple or take a big first step, they'll see how the benefits can really add up.

  • Educational and interactive. It's extremely flexible and can be conducted within just 10 to 30 minutes allowing it to fit into virtually any schedule and/or program. For example, an informal discussion could be held:
    • During a coffee hour.
    • In conjunction with another program as a brief add-on.
    • After a school or congregation meeting.
    • One-on-one with a couple or family with older children.
    • Established church groups or social ministries.
  • Designed to be lead by a financial representative or volunteer leader/member of Thrivent Financial. The facilitator chooses one to four of the following discussion topics:
    • Protecting yourself and your family.
    • Preparing for the future.
    • Save more, spend less.
    • Giving and stewardship.
  • Participants receive a packet of cards that coincide with the four topics listed above. Before leaving, they will choose an idea listed on the back of the cards – or an idea shared during the group discussion – to do one thing differently to help improve their finances – starting today.
Promotion Materials – For use prior to discussion.
