Describing Chapters
A chapter is a geographic group of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members who create and participate in charitable, social and educational activities. All Thrivent Financial members belong to a chapter, which provides a way for them to connect with one another for social or educational events, as well as give back to their communities, congregations and causes they care about.
Chapter Terminology Guidelines
There's another way we can show our unity, and that's by ensuring that we describe ourselves the same way. Whether you're in Arizona, Pennsylvania or somewhere in between, it's important people know we are all Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. These guidelines will help you do just that.
- Refer to the organization as "Thrivent Financial for Lutherans" on written pieces ("Thrivent Financial" on second reference), not "Thrivent" or "TFFL."
- Do not directly precede the word "Chapter" with the word "Financial" as in "Thrivent Financial Chapter." An acceptable alternative would be "Thrivent chapter," as in "Four Thrivent chapters will work together."
- When referring to your chapter, the preferred method is "[your chapter name] of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans."
- When referring to service teams, use "members of the [Chapter Name] Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans."
