Financial Education Workshops

Financial education workshops from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans focus on using your values to help manage your time, talents and treasures.

Learn Fundamentals in a Comfortable Setting

Rather than being sales-oriented, our informational workshops teach stewardship in a friendly, informal way. The workshops are:

  • Led by local Thrivent Financial representatives.
  • Approximately one hour.
  • Offered at no cost or obligation to you.
  • Four workshops can be led by members.

A wide variety of values-based workshops are offered in four general categories: Basic Money Management, Life Events, Giving Back and Advanced Money Management. Review workshops descriptions. To find out which workshops are available in your area, use our online registration tool or contact your Thrivent Financial representative.

Several of our workshops have received EIFLE awards for excellence in financial literacy education from the Institute of Financial Literacy.

Basic Money Management

You work hard for your money. Learn how to make your money work harder and smarter for you. Choose from the following workshops:

  • More Than Money Matters®
This award-winning series of workshops can help you develop skills to take charge of your finances and reach your goals. No matter what your current situation, More Than Money Matters® offers information and tools on topics such as debt and credit, finding money to save, budget and net worth, and stewardship and values.
  • Identity Theft
This timely topic is for anyone who wants tips and tools for avoiding identity theft or dealing with the consequences once your identity has been stolen. 2010 EIFLE Award recipient for excellence in financial education.
  • Parents, Kids and Money Matters® (for parents and their children ages six – 10).
  • Parents, Teens and Money Matters® (for parents and their children ages 11 – 14).

Life Events

Preparing for life's changes – marriage, career, saving for college and retirement – takes planning. These workshops provide guidelines to make sound decisions. Additional online resources for a few of our workshops includes:

  • College Matters (for parents of high school students seeking information on navigating the admissions and financial aid maze). 2011 EIFLE Award recipient for excellence in financial education.
  • Job Transition Resources includes eight online self–directed modules with practical information on interviewing, resumes, social networking and salary negotiation.

Giving Back

What do you want your legacy to be? Discover how sharing your hobbies and secret recipes can be just as important to your family as sharing your money. Our workshops help you actively volunteer or make financial legacy decisions using your values as a guide.

Advance Money Management

Financial jargon can be downright intimidating. Learn about "asset allocation" and "dollar cost averaging" – and how they can work to secure your financial future.
