Eligible Activities
The Care Abounds in Communities® program provides funding and other resources for chapter members and those who want to help meet a need in their community. Although funds are primarily used for charitable purposes, they can also be used for educational and member social activities.
- Fund-raising Activity – An activity to raise money, which can then be supplemented with Care Abounds in Communities program funds.
- Example: A book sale to raise funds for the local library.
- Hands-on Service Activity – Involves volunteer labor to assemble, develop or improve something for an identified recipient. Thrivent Financial provides financial assistance to purchase the necessary materials.
- Example: Building a shelter at a local park.
- Educational Activity – An opportunity to bring together members and the community to help lead secure and generous lives through education.
- Example: A workshop focusing on identify theft, or teaching children how to be wise with money.
- Member Social Activity – Another opportunity to attract and involve members (who can invite their personal guests) by helping them connect with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
Co-hosting Activities with Other Organizations
There may be times when a volunteer service team partners or "co-hosts" a charitable activity with another organization. This is a great opportunity, and requires some things to keep in mind. Visit the Chapter Information Place (CHIP), Cohosting activity guidelines and reporting information for details
