What Does the Phrase "Being Wise With Money" Mean to You?
Kids say the funniest – and sometimes the savviest – things. They have a way of taking a complicated concept and making it simple. Thrivent magazine wants to hear and see what kids think the phrase "being wise with money" means to them.
Here's what you need to know to participate in the Thrivent magazine writing and drawing contest:

Summary of Criteria and Guidelines
- Entries may be essays or drawings and must address the theme: What does the phrase "being wise with money" mean to you?
- To enter, you need to be school age (between the ages of 3 and 18) and be a Thrivent member, or the child or grandchild of a Thrivent member. (Children of Thrivent Financial employees and representatives are not eligible to participate.)
- All entries must be the original work of the student.
- Drawings must be done on an 8½ by 11 sheet of paper. They may contain words of explanation. Drawings may be submitted online through the link below or by mailing to Thrivent magazine Contest, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, 4321 N. Ballard Road, Appleton, WI 54919-0001.
- Essays should be between 100 and 300 words. They must be submitted online using the link below.
- All entries must include the entrant's name, address, age, category, name(s) of parent, email address and phone number. (Email address will be used to send confirmation of the entry's receipt.)
- Only one entry (essay or drawing) is allowed per qualified entrant.
- All entries will become the property of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Entries will not be returned.
- Online entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. CST April 15. All mailed entries (drawings only) must be postmarked by April 15, 2012. Late entries will not be considered.
Categories
Essays and drawing will be judged in five grade categories:
- Category 1: PreK and Kindergarten
- Category 2: Grades 1 – 3
- Category 3: Grades 4 – 6
- Category 4: Grades 7 – 9
- Category 5: Grades 10 – 12
Judging
Winners in each category will be selected by a team of Thrivent Financial employees based on:
- Creativity.
- Ability to capture the theme in an inspiring way.
Prizes
Winners will be announced by Aug. 1, 2012. The top three drawings and top three essays in each category will receive a $100 cash award. Winners also will receive a certificate of recognition and be included in a print booklet. Winning entries also may be included in part or whole in the Summer 2012 issue of Thrivent magazine.
