Publicizing chapter activities
Publicizing
chapter activities
Publicity is a very important piece of conducting volunteer activities. It's
how you:
- Get noticed for all the good things your chapter or congregation does.
- Create excitement about volunteering.
- Get more people involved with your chapter or congregation.
Publicity helps make an impact because it expands community support, provides individual recognition to active volunteers, increases enthusiasm and unity among chapter and congregation members, and raises awareness about Thrivent Financial for Lutherans in your community. Be positive and creative – and don’t be shy – when getting the word out about your volunteer activities.
Publicity and promotional items available to chapter leaders and congregational advocates:
- Visibility Toolkit. This tool answers many questions you may have and helps take the mystery out of successfully generating awareness of your activities.
- Media/news release templates include activity announcements and results, and for chapter leaders, a new leadership board announcement and a Care programs summary insert. These can be accessed by chapter leaders from the Order Chapter Supplies page in Chapter Leadership Administration.
- Non-cost items such as posters, bulletin inserts, brochures, name tags and signs are available to chapter leaders via the Order Chapter Supplies page in Chapter Leadership Administration.
- Cost items can be ordered from The Store. Items include awards and gifts, apparel, banners, a reusable oversized check and much more. For ordering information, go to The Store and click on FAQ.
Publicity and promotional items available to chapter leaders only:
- The Chapter
Mailing Service tools allow chapters to send mailings to members (newsletters and postcards, including Thrivent Builds postcards, and a chapter election invitation). See Mailing service for chapters — newsletters and postcards for complete details and guidelines.
- Chapter personal
imprint items – calling cards, letterhead stationery, envelopes,
note cards, thank-you cards and name badges – may be purchased by
chapter leaders via the Chapter Supplies page in Chapter Leadership
Administration.
Best practice
Many chapters have had success tying their chapter Care program funding to
publicity, requiring proof that service teams have publicized their activities
before chapter Care program funding is released to them. This also is helpful
as an additional criterion in making funding decisions.
