For Organizations

In order to be eligible to receive Choice Dollars funding, each Lutheran organization must:

• Be an incorporated, nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and have a unique Employee Identification Number (EIN).
• Be recognized by or affiliated with a Lutheran church body or clearly and publicly identified as a Lutheran organization.
• Be domiciled in and provide services in the U.S.
• Have at least one year-round staff member employed.
• Be an independent fiscal organization with its own unique bank account to receive electronic funds transfers (EFT).
• Meet criteria outlined in Thrivent Financial's Policy on Grants and Gifts (PDF, 12K).
• Agree and comply with the Terms and Conditions (PDF, 123K) of the Thrivent Choice® Program for organizations and any changes to these Terms and Conditions.

Enrollment

Organizations wishing to enroll in Choice Dollars must submit a Thrivent Choice® Charitable Organization application form to Thrivent Financial for Lutherans for consideration. Meeting the above criteria does not guarantee that an organization will be approved for participation. Thrivent Financial has discretion to determine whether or not organizations are eligible to receive Thrivent Choice funds.

Evaluation

Organizations complete and submit applications to Thrivent Financial.

• Thrivent Financial chapters are notified of the organizations applying to be part of Choice Dollars.
• Thrivent Financial chapters review and approve/deny organizations based on the eligibility criteria and approval policies for Choice Dollars funding recipients and notify Thrivent Financial's home office of their decisions.
• Thrivent Financial reviews the decisions made by the chapters.
• Organizations are notified of the enrollment decision.

Terms and Conditions

Receiving funds from the Thrivent Choice program is subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Thrivent Choice program. Lutheran organizations wanting to enroll in Choice Dollars must read and agree to these Terms and Conditions (PDF, 123K) of the Thrivent Choice program prior to submitting the enrollment application form.

Thrivent Financial gives members the opportunity to nominate national Lutheran and non-Lutheran organizations to be considered as recipient organizations. Chapter leaders are then asked to help narrow down the list of nominees via a survey. Thrivent Financial makes the final decision on the Voting Event recipient organizations based on chapter leader input and on information received from each of the organizations. In order to be eligible for consideration by Thrivent Financial to participate in Voting Events, each organization must:

• Be an incorporated, nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and have a unique Employee Identification Number (EIN).
• Be domiciled in and provide services in the U.S.
• Have at least one year-round staff member employed.
• Be an independent fiscal organization with their own unique bank account to receive electronic funds transfers (EFT).
• Have a national recognition with a local presence.
• Meet criteria outlined in Thrivent Financial's Policy on Grants and Gifts (PDF, 12K).
• Agree and comply with the Terms and Conditions (PDF, 123K) of the Voting Events that will be mailed to them and any changes to these Terms and Conditions.
